Leaders Of The CPAP Machine Pack: ResMed, Respironics, Fisher Paykel

Saturday, April 10, 2010

Since we spend about one-third of our lives sleeping, getting a good rest shouldn’t be a nightly hassle. Those with sleep apnea know the everyday feelings of fatigue from interrupted sleep. Fortunately, sleep-disordered breathing can be treated with a number of machines from the Talk About Sleep Online Store.

The particular type of machine you need – CPAP, Auto CPAP, BiPAP or BiLevel – will usually be prescribed by your doctor. No matter the type of machine, a prescription is required for purchase.

CPAP machines provide CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) to keep the airway open, helping the patient to breathe without difficulty during sleep. The machine provides air pressure at an average or constant level.

The Talk About Sleep Online Store offers six models of CPAP machines – two each from industry leaders ResMed, Respironics and Fisher Paykel. Each model has special features to meet a patient’s individual needs and preferences.

The ResMed S8 Escape II features EPR (expiratory pressure relief), meaning that air pressure drops during exhalation, making the patient feel that exhaling is more natural and comfortable. With its lower motor speed, the S8 AutoSet II is 60 percent quieter than the previous ResMed models.

The ResMed S8 Elite II has all the features of the Escape II and adds the H4i Heated Humidifier, making it ResMed’s premium model. By adding moisture to the air breathed in by the patient, the humidifier reduces nasal congestion, dryness and irritation of the nose and throat.

The Respironics System One line of machines knows when, why, and how changes in air pressure should be made for effective and optimum sleep therapy. The model’s C-Flex Plus technology minimizes the pressure during exhalation in the breathing cycle for added comfort. Respironics System One also offers optional humidity control to account for room humidity and prevent condensation from forming in the air tube.

The Fisher Paykel SleepStyle™  604 delivers optimal humidification while decreasing rainout – the gurgling noise that results from condensation in the air tube. Its ThermoSmart technology heats the breathing tube for higher humidity and greater patient comfort. The Fisher Paykel SleepStyle™ HC234, a more compact model, features heated humidification and quiet operation.

All CPAP machines are easy to use and can be combined with a variety of accessories. With quality products from the Talk About Sleep Online Store, a good night’s rest is no longer a dream.
