Battery Backup for CPAP

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

As a CPAP user, I often wonder what I would do in the event of a power loss in my home. I need to sleep, but do I want to drag a heavy deep cycle battery into my bedroom at 2am? After spending some time at Medtrade with the nice people from Battery Power Solutions, I found a better option.

Most modern CPAP machines on the market today have a separate DC (battery) cord offered as an option. Normally one would only use this when camping or traveling by airplane, but why couldn’t it be used at home too? The only other thing needed is a battery that could be plugged into a wall outlet and stay continuously charged.

A simple answer to this is the Super CPAP battery pack! The powerful Li-ion battery can remain plugged into the wall outlet near your night stand. In the event of a power loss, the machine can be run, uninterrupted, from the battery. The run time of course would depend on several factors, but in most cases it would be 6-7 hours or more.

This is a near perfect solution to the long awaited battery backup for CPAP!
